The Ultrasound and Radio Frequency Treatment course offers in-depth knowledge of two powerful technologies used in aesthetic medicine. Learn the science, equipment functionality, and practical applications for effective patient outcomes.

Unit 1: Theory and Physics of Ultrasound and Radio Frequency
This foundational unit explains the principles of waves and energy transfer critical to understanding ultrasound and radiofrequency technologies. You will learn:
- Key concepts of electromagnetic and mechanical waves, including their properties, frequencies, and mediums.
- How these technologies generate heat to stimulate collagen production and tighten skin.
- Differences between invasive and non-invasive approaches to skin tightening, emphasising safety and efficacy.
- How to select appropriate equipment and settings for aesthetic applications.

Unit 2: Radio Frequency in Aesthetic Medicine
Explore the role of radiofrequency as a part of the electromagnetic spectrum and its specific uses in cosmetic treatments. This unit covers:
- Types of radiofrequency devices (monopolar, bipolar, unipolar, and multipolar) and their unique applications.
- Mechanisms of action, including collagen remodelling, lymphatic drainage, and skin tightening.
- Common treatment areas, such as facial rejuvenation, acne scarring, and keloid management.
- Benefits, challenges, and considerations, including how to minimise risks like burns and fat atrophy.
- Practical insights into patient selection and achieving optimal outcomes.

Unit 3: Ultrasound for Skin Rejuvenation
Delve into the versatile applications of ultrasound in skin care and aesthetics. Learn about:
- The mechanics of ultrasound waves and their precise delivery into tissue.
- Key mechanisms of action: thermal, mechanical, cavitation, and biological effects.
- Applications in treating acne, scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and stretch marks.
- Use of low-frequency and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HiFu) for targeted treatment of different skin layers.
- Benefits over other modalities, including minimal downtime, precise energy delivery, and enhanced product absorption.

This course equips healthcare professionals with the tools to confidently integrate ultrasound and radiofrequency treatments into their aesthetic practices.

Assess ultrasound devices and radio frequency treatments.

This course is designed for GPs and is also suitable for all degree qualified medical professionals.
