EXPERT INSTRUCTOR

This course is divided into two detailed units that comprehensively address advanced techniques for planning and executing advancement flaps.

Unit 1: Principles and Techniques of Advancement Flaps
This unit introduces advanced concepts for designing and implementing advancement flaps:
- Flap Design Fundamentals: Understand the principles of random and axial pattern flaps, blood supply considerations, and tension management to ensure successful outcomes.
- Types of Advancement Flaps: Explore single and bilateral advancement flaps, A-L, A-T, modified H-flaps, and A-A-Z flaps. Learn when and where to use each type based on lesion size, location, and skin laxity.
- Skin Subunits and Tension Lines: Learn to align flap designs with natural skin tension lines and subunit boundaries to optimise cosmetic results and minimise scarring.
- Practical Steps: Master the planning, marking, and mobilisation of tissue through step-by-step instructions, including the use of dermal sutures and techniques to address dog ears and length discrepancies.

Unit 2: Practical Demonstrations and Case Applications
This unit focuses on real-world applications of the techniques discussed:
- Video Demonstrations: Watch detailed procedures such as bilateral H-flap closures, showcasing precise marking, tissue mobilisation, and suturing techniques.
- Anatomical Considerations: Address flaps in challenging regions such as the face, scalp, and extremities, ensuring functional integrity and aesthetic success.
- Managing Complex Cases: Explore scenarios involving multiple lesions, overlapping defects, and high-tension areas, using advanced strategies like the Mercedes flap and curved designs.
- Hands-On Exercises: Apply your knowledge through practical exercises on simulated models, enhancing your skill set for clinical practice.

This course combines theoretical understanding with practical expertise, empowering participants to handle complex closures confidently while achieving superior patient outcomes in skin cancer surgery.
