EXPERT INSTRUCTOR

The Breastfeeding course is structured into one detailed unit that covers the essential aspects of breastfeeding:

Breastfeeding – Physiology, Support, and Management
This unit begins with an overview of breastfeeding physiology, explaining the hormonal and biological processes that initiate and sustain lactation. It also covers the anatomy of the breast, breast changes during pregnancy, and the critical role of prolactin and oxytocin in milk production and ejection. The course then explores the benefits of breastfeeding for both mothers and infants, including health benefits and breastfeeding’s role in reducing the risk of infections, cancers, and chronic diseases.

Participants will learn how to assess breastfeeding patterns, latch quality, and milk transfer to ensure that babies receive adequate nutrition. The course outlines the steps for establishing breast milk supply and managing common challenges, such as nipple pain, mastitis, and milk supply issues. Practical solutions for addressing breastfeeding complications, improving maternal nutrition, and supporting mothers to maintain breastfeeding are also discussed.

This course equips healthcare providers with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to support and guide new mothers through their breastfeeding journey.
