Chaos and Clues

The "Chaos and Clues Method" course provides healthcare professionals with an advanced approach to dermoscopy for identifying suspicious skin lesions. This course introduces the Chaos and Clues diagnostic algorithm, a proven method for determining whether skin lesions such as melanomas, basal cell carcinomas (BCCs), and squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) are benign or require further investigation. Participants will learn to apply this method through practical case studies, detailed image analysis, and expert guidance, improving their ability to make accurate and timely diagnoses in clinical practice.

EXPERT INSTRUCTOR

This course is structured into two key units, each designed to offer in-depth knowledge and practical application of the Chaos and Clues method in dermoscopy.

Unit 1: Introduction to the Chaos and Clues Method
This unit covers the fundamental principles of the Chaos and Clues algorithm, a simplified yet effective decision-making tool for assessing skin lesions. Participants will learn to identify chaos in a lesion, which indicates the need for further examination, and recognise specific clues that suggest malignancy. The unit emphasises practical applications of the method and provides numerous clinical examples to help learners understand how to distinguish between benign and suspicious lesions.

Unit 2: Practical Application of Chaos and Clues
In this unit, participants delve deeper into real-world case studies, applying the Chaos and Clues method to various pigmented skin lesions, including melanomas, pigmented BCCs, and SCCs. Through interactive case discussions, learners will assess clinical scenarios, identify the presence of chaos or clues, and determine whether to biopsy the lesion. The course also addresses exceptions to the method and offers strategies for handling complex or borderline cases.

This course equips healthcare professionals with the skills to enhance diagnostic accuracy in detecting skin malignancies, ultimately improving patient outcomes in dermatology.
