EXPERT INSTRUCTOR

"Lasers: Vascular Conditions" provides a comprehensive framework for understanding and applying laser technology in treating vascular conditions. Led by Dr. Anthony Rixon, an experienced skin cancer and cosmetic doctor, the course emphasises safety, precision, and efficacy.

The course covers the following essential areas:
- Laser Physics and Safety:
- Key principles of laser operation, including wavelength selection, pulse duration, and fluence.
- The role of chromophores (oxyhemoglobin, melanin) in targeting vascular conditions.
- Safety considerations, contraindications, and risk stratification for diverse skin types.
- Congenital Vascular Conditions:
- Effective treatment of port wine stains, hemangiomas, and lymphangiomas.
- Selection of pulse dye and KTP lasers for optimal results.
- Managing patient expectations and achieving significant improvement in vascular abnormalities.
- Acquired Vascular Conditions:
- Addressing common issues such as spider naevi, cherry angiomas, telangiectasia, rosacea, poikiloderma of Civatte, and peri-orbital vessels.
- Matching laser types (e.g., long-pulse Nd:YAG, KTP 532) to specific conditions for effective outcomes.
- Case-based approaches to treatment planning and post-treatment care.
- Clinical Techniques and Endpoints:
- Achieving optimal results through proper parameter selection and recognising clinical endpoints.
- Managing patient safety during treatments, including precautions for sensitive areas such as peri-orbital regions.
- Strategies for treating both superficial and deeper vessels.
- Advancing Practitioner Skills:
- Practical insights into pulse stacking, spot size adjustments, and energy optimisation.
- Comparing laser options and understanding the strengths of IPL as a complementary tool.
- Long-term patient management, including managing expectations and minimising risks of complications.

This course equips practitioners with advanced knowledge to integrate lasers into their clinical practice confidently. Through evidence-based teaching, case studies, and technical demonstrations, participants will refine their ability to deliver safe and effective laser treatments for vascular conditions.
