This course consists of four units, each focusing on key aesthetic treatments commonly used in clinics.
Unit 1: Microdermabrasion
This unit covers the use of microdermabrasion as a non-invasive exfoliation treatment. Participants will learn about the different microdermabrasion devices, including aluminium oxide and diamond-tipped tools, and how to use them safely to remove dead skin cells and stimulate collagen production. The unit emphasises patient selection, safety precautions, and potential contraindications such as active acne or rosacea.
Unit 2: Percutaneous Collagen Induction (Microneedling)
In this unit, participants explore microneedling, a minimally invasive procedure that stimulates collagen production. The course discusses the use of dermarollers and Dermapen devices, outlining their benefits for treating fine lines, acne scars, and skin laxity. It covers proper technique, needle depth selection, and how to integrate microneedling into broader aesthetic treatment plans.
Unit 3: Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
This unit introduces PRP therapy, which harnesses the patient’s own growth factors to rejuvenate the skin. Participants will learn about the process of drawing and preparing PRP, its benefits for skin rejuvenation and healing, and its uses in treating fine lines, scars, and hair loss. Practical considerations, such as patient counselling and safety protocols, are also covered.
Unit 4: Photodynamic and Low-Level Light Therapy
This unit focuses on the application of LED phototherapy and photodynamic therapy (PDT) in aesthetics. Participants will learn how to use different light wavelengths to treat conditions like acne, photodamage, and superficial skin cancers. The unit also highlights the role of light therapy in post-procedure recovery and its benefits for wound healing and collagen stimulation.
This course provides healthcare professionals with the tools and knowledge needed to incorporate safe and effective aesthetic treatments into their practice, enhancing patient care and satisfaction.
